Connection Camp Dance Programs: ArtFull Community Living in Hawaii

Social dance is a language that allows people to connect with others and have soulful conversations void of speaking.  It can be a tool for transformation and a means of expressing oneself and relating to others on a deeper level. As a lifelong artist and retreat leader, Star sees dance as more than just movement; it is an avenue for self-discovery, healing, empowerment, and relating to others.

At Star’s Connection Camps, movement takes center stage as an immersive, transformative experience. The camp, made for adventure seekers, cultural enthusiasts, and those who are ready to embrace movement as a form of personal growth, has become a way for people to prioritize their passions in their daily routines.  Participants train intensely, dedicating three to four hours a day to dance, pushing their limits, and discovering new aspects of themselves in the process.

Nestled in the lush landscape of Hawaii’s Kona Coffee Country, Orchid Isle Manor is where it all happens. unique retreat for those seeking solace and renewal.

The immersive programs encourage participants to engage in a balanced lifestyle while dedicating themselves to their craft. In the tradition of Hawaiian society, the camp schedule is designed to align with the lunar cycle, offering a structured yet mindful environment where participants can reset their daily habits and cultivate meaningful connections with themselves, others, and their surroundings.

A carefully curated team of mentors and instructors guides participants through an intensive yet supportive experience, helping them establish routines that enhance both personal and professional aspects of their lives. By combining movement, artistic expression, and cultural engagement, the program is structured around five key areas of connection:

Connection with Oneself

Self-awareness and introspection are key components of the Connection Camps. Practices like Lunar Art Journaling are meant for participants to engage with writing prompts that help them process thoughts and emotions. Movement-based activities, including morning yoga and tribal dance, provide an opportunity to set daily intentions while aligning mind and body. Additionally, thermal therapy using steam saunas and hot or cold plunge pools supports circulation, muscle recovery, and relaxation.

Workshops on intuitive development help participants strengthen their ability to trust their instincts, further reinforcing a deepened sense of self-awareness and confidence.

Connection with Community

Building a strong sense of community is another central element of the program. Shared responsibilities such as gardening, meal preparation, and general organization encourage participants to engage in acts of service that benefit the group. This collaborative approach cultivates teamwork, accountability, and a deeper appreciation for community living.

The program also emphasizes gratitude, encouraging participants to adopt a mindset of appreciation that enhances both individual and group dynamics. A commitment to sustainable living is another cornerstone, with participants learning about waste reduction and environmentally conscious practices that contribute to both personal and planetary well-being.

Transformation Starts From Within

A typical day at Orchid Isle Manor begins with a gentle yoga session to awaken the body and mind. After a nourishing breakfast, guests can choose from a variety of activities, such as art workshops, self-guided nature walks, & excursions to beautiful island waterfalls or beaches.

Designed with remote workers & students in mind, our dance training begins after 2:00 pm in Hawaii when the rest of the world is asleep.  The retreat emphasizes balance, allowing participants to engage in as much or as little as they like.

“We want people to feel empowered to make choices that serve their well-being,” Star explains. “It’s about creating a space where they can listen to their needs & pursue their desires for a uniquely personal experience.”

Weekends are unscheduled so participants can island hop to see our neighboring islands such as Oahu, Maui, or Kauai, or delve into other interests they may have.  Your time can be custom curated specifically to your personal passions: get PADI scuba certified, train in freediving, explore painting, and mermaids, travel with a motorcycle adventure club, or learn surfing.
