The Curator’s Salon: A Visionary Platform for Connection

At the heart of Gita’s influence lies The Curator’s Salon, a dynamic platform designed to support and guide artists through the complexities of their careers. Founded with a vision to provide artists a platform to be seen and connecting artists with collectors, curators, and opportunities, The Curator’s Salon provides resources like blog posts, podcasts, and mentorship programs. It serves as a haven for artists seeking to share their stories and expand their professional horizons.

On The Curator’s Salon Podcast Gita amplifies her mission by featuring candid conversations with artists, offering listeners an intimate glimpse into their creative processes and career journeys.

The platform also stands as a beacon for artists navigating the art market, filling in the blanks left by art school.
She explains “ There are more artists than galleries can ever represent and it falls to the artist to be their own best advocate and agent first, before stepping into collaborations.”

Mentorship: Guiding Artists to Success

Central to Gita Joshi’s work is her role as a mentor to artists. Through personalized coaching and tailored guidance, she helps artists navigate the often complex and daunting art world. Her mentorship focuses on both practical and emotional aspects of being an artist—from developing professional portfolios and crafting artist statements to overcoming self-doubt and fostering resilience. She says “the fear of being seen is real. As much as an artist wants validation and recognition from the market, the fear of being the centre of attention is often unfamiliar territory. Through mentoring we frequently address the internal conflict, allowing the artist to embrace visibility and thus share their art with the world.”

Gita’s mentoring sessions are transformative, equipping artists with tools to build sustainable careers. She emphasizes defining goals, understanding the art market and the artists’ value proposition, and leveraging social media to expand reach. Many of the artists she mentors credit her for unlocking their potential and achieving milestones they once thought unattainable.

The Author of Show Your Art

Gita Joshi’s dedication to artist empowerment is also evident in her book, Show Your Art. This indispensable guide offers practical advice for artists eager to showcase their work, reach their audience, and build sustainable careers. With its accessible tone and actionable insights, the book demystifies the art of self-promotion, encouraging creatives to embrace the business side of their practice with confidence.
She shares “ As an art dealer I received many submissions from artists wishing to show at my gallery in Central London, but it was clear from their emails they were not ready for that step. This led me to writing the book, and sharing how artists can take charge of their art careers, understand the importance of their own story,  improve their visibility and credibility which makes it easier to approach galleries should they choose.”

“I was an independent curator before I opened a gallery, and Art Seen magazine, launched in 2021, was a way of curating in a publication format  when the world was still coming out of Covid lockdown.”

Now entering its fifth year, Gita continues as the editor of  the quarterly magazine, which amplifies underrepresented voices in the art world and gives a platform to emerging and mid-career artists working across various disciplines in the visual arts.  Each edition of the publication hits the bestseller ranks and puts artists in front of art professionals , collectors and art enthusiasts.

Through her initiatives, Gita redefines what it means to be an artist in today’s world. Her unwavering dedication to the creative community serves as a reminder that art has the power to unite, transform, and inspire.
