As a disruptor, Rhona cultivates introspective dialogue connecting us all on a personal level to social issues of our time. She her installations spark conversations for change through the arts.
With roots in art education + interior design she aims to cultivate meaningful experiences between her viewers and art. Her installation and mixed-medium works of art take on sculptural form.
In 2022 she has partnered with ArtServe, A21, Hersong, a ministry of the Tim Tebow Foundation, and the Broward Human Trafficking Coalition (along with other organizations) to educate, equip, and empower students, parents, and educators to fight modern slavery through the arts. She says,
“I’m wondering if acknowledging our own silenced stories could bring strength and perspective, soften our hearts, and open our understanding to those suffering in silence around us. Could our stories be a thread that brings out compassion in humanity. Maybe these wounds are intended to let the light shine through. Could it be what connects us? Could pause, fuel compassion for change? Could it be that what’s died inside, hidden in the dark, is a seed to sprout and grow again?”
The goal of this instillation and educational programming is to encourage us as community to pause, reflect on our stories, and hear the stories of those who have been silenced in society. Rhona invites viewers to cultivating freedom through vulnerability. It’s an invitation to the conversation for change. “I want to shake it up and help us find common ground. We’ve all been in vulnerable situations. I want us to take off the blinders and see and hear what’s happening in our communities and be empowered to be apart of the solution.”
As co-founder and principal designer at The Miami Design Studio, Rhona says, “The Miami Design Studio is a fusion of passion and experience dedicated to creating a place “WHERE ART + LIVING COLLIDE” She serves as Creative Director and Principal Designer, and believes that design effect the emotional and physical well-being of the public.
