Snapchat Fixes Its Frequent Crashes

Since installing the latest version of the Snapchat app from the App Store, many users have reported app crashes. In a tweet today, the firm acknowledged the problem and stated that it is already working on a solution.

The increase in complaints coincides with the introduction of Snapchat version 11.34.0.35, which was released less than a day ago. Many customers claim that when they launch the Snapchat app, it crashes immediately, and there is presently no repair available.

Snapchat recognized the problem in a Twitter post.

Snapchat updates its App Store on a weekly basis, with many of them focusing solely on bug fixes and performance enhancements. However, we should expect an update with a fix for this crashing issue to arrive sooner than next week.

This bug is causing a lot of frustration among Snapchat users on Twitter, owing to the app’s focus on maintaining daily “streaks” of sending Snapchats to people. If the app is down for more than 24 hours, Snapchat users may lose their streaks completely.

In the meantime, users should avoid installing Snapchat version 11.34.0.35 if they haven’t already, and wait for a newer version to hit the App Store. We’ll make sure to update this story once Snapchat releases an update, but there’s currently no timeline.

If you’ve been having problems with the iOS version of Snapchat crashing on launch, it appears that an update to fix the problem is now available in the App Store. The app’s Android version did not appear to be affected by the bug that was fixed by the update.

Before updating to the latest version, 11.34.1.35, the app would crash to Springboard on my iPhone 12 Mini, indicating that something had gone wrong. I’m no longer getting the error, and I’ve been able to send a Snap successfully.

Despite having a pinned tweet about the bug, the Snapchat Support Twitter account has yet to tweet about the fix, but Snap’s SVP of Product has tweeted about the issue being resolved. The update was tested by myself and one of my coworkers, and it resolved the crashing issue for both of us.

If the update isn’t being downloaded automatically, go to the App Store, tap on your profile picture in the top right corner, and pull down to refresh. You should see any available updates and be able to download them. If you turned off Auto-update to avoid the bugged version, go to Settings > App Store and toggle App Updates under Automatic Downloads.
